Ukrainian Support in Scotland
Scotland has given a home to more than 20,000 Ukrainian refugees fleeing the ongoing war happening back in their beloved country. Over the last few months, our Engagement Team in Scotland has been a very busy bunch building great relationships with the Ukrainian communities in Glasgow and North Lanarkshire.
They have been giving as much advice as possible to help make settlement into Glasgow a little bit easier, running job fairs and social events to help spread awareness of available vacancies and other support on offer, as well as providing a safe space for them to enjoy a hot beverage and have a chat.
The team have even started to attend the MS Ambition ship which is currently located in Braehead with the help of our Ukrainian Key Worker, Yuliia, to help ease communication with those who have limited or no English.
Here are some stats showing just how much of an impact our team are making to the Ukrainian community:
- We now have over 250 Ukrainians signed up to the Fair Start Scotland and Working For You contracts.
- 15 of those people had started work in January with a further 15 to start work in February.
