The Impact of a DPS Course

Michael, a Key Worker at Fair Start Scotland, recently held a DPS course in Edinburgh. This course was designed to help trainees build confidence and understand and gain new transferable skills to aid them in returning to work. It specifically targeted individuals facing long-term unemployment, single parents, or those lacking the confidence to re-enter the workforce due to mental health issues.
The DPS course spanned a total of eight days and included six participants. Michael described this experience as fantastic and highlighted how it opened doors for further opportunities. "I have had excellent feedback from the trainees and the CCP, who are the awarding body for the DPS course in Edinburgh," Michael said.
Participants shared their appreciation for Michael's efforts and the course's impact. One participant mentioned, "Michael was fantastic, he explained everything in an understandable way. I have really enjoyed this course and wish it was longer." Another added, "The course content was very interesting and relevant to the skills needed for employment. Michael was very patient and empathetic to the different needs of the group." The smaller group size also received positive feedback: "I enjoyed the group being smaller as this allowed for more personalised attention and guidance."
The dedication Michael showed was evident in another participant's gratitude: "Thank you, Michael, for going above and beyond to help us all gain new skills and confidence."
The impact of the course was significant. Out of the six trainees, three successfully secured jobs after completing the programme. This outcome underscores the effectiveness of the DPS course and the importance of tailored support and skill-building for those facing barriers to employment.
