New Beginnings: Rosvita’s Journey to Employment

Rosvita’s story is one of resilience and hope. After moving to the UK from Romania, she faced many challenges, including poor English skills and the difficulties of adjusting to life as a single parent to a young child. Having never worked in the UK, Rosvita was uncertain about how to secure employment and support her family.
Her turning point came when she met Nikki, her dedicated Key Worker from the Fair Start Scotland team, at her local Job Centre Plus. Nikki provided invaluable support, helping Rosvita to navigate the UK’s benefits system and ensuring that she had access to the financial assistance she needed during this tough time.
However, Nikki’s support didn’t stop there. She worked closely with Rosvita to build a strong CV, highlighting her strengths and past experiences despite the language barrier. With patience and dedication, Nikki guided Rosvita through the process of applying for vacancies, helping her to understand job requirements and fill out applications. The Fair Start Scotland team, including Employer Relationship Managers (ERMs), were also on hand to connect Rosvita with potential employers, giving her access to a broader range of opportunities.
Through this collaborative effort, Rosvita was introduced to the Clyde Hotel, where she applied for and successfully secured a full-time position as a housekeeper. This role has been a life-changing step for Rosvita, providing her with financial stability and a newfound sense of independence.
In addition to practical employment support, the Fair Start Scotland team provided Rosvita with ongoing encouragement and guidance, ensuring that her wellbeing was always a priority. From helping her feel more confident in her job applications to offering regular check-ins, the team played a crucial role in her journey.
