Fareha’s Path to Confidence and Employment

At PeoplePlus, we’re proud to share stories of change and success, and Fareha’s journey shows how Fair Start Scotland can truly help.
When Fareha reconnected with our team at a community hub, she was already familiar with the programme, having been a participant before. She was facing significant challenges, including depression and anxiety caused by a vocal cord injury that had deeply shaken her confidence. Fareha needed personalised support to help her get closer to employment, and we were ready to assist.
Her Key Worker, Susie, began by addressing her immediate needs. Together, they worked on building a standout CV and crafting tailored cover letters. Susie also encouraged Fareha to take courses that could boost her skills and job prospects.
A turning point in Fareha’s journey was joining the Positive Mental Attitude Routeway, a five-week programme aimed at building self-esteem, and essential skills for the job market. Alongside this, Fareha participated in the Walk and Talk Group, which gave her a safe space to rebuild confidence and connect with others.
As Fareha progressed through these sessions, Susie continued to provide practical job-seeking support, including updating her CV, holding mock interviews, and refining her cover letters. Fareha also received valuable advice from David, our Lead Trainer, to further enhance her skills.
With this comprehensive support, Fareha’s confidence grew. She became more active in her job search, submitting applications and gaining momentum. Interview invitations started coming in, and with Susie’s coaching, Fareha felt well-prepared to seize these opportunities.
Her hard work paid off when she secured a job in retail, where she continues to thrive. Well done, Fareha!
