Port Talbot Office Go Above And Beyond

One of the things that makes us proud to work at PeoplePlus is knowing our colleagues support people and change their lives every single day. This story, from our Port Talbot office in Wales, demonstrates how not only do they go above and beyond for our participants but we also do our very best to support our local communities too.

Recently, a lady was passing our premises in Port Talbot and called in to ask if we could point her in the right direct to the centre of town where she could get some support with preparing for job interviews. This lady had no affiliation with us, but explained to us that both her and her husband ran their own business prior to COVID which they lost during the pandemic and so they have decided to source separate employment. She had been sourcing employment online that she felt suited her qualities and skills and had been asked to attend a job interview however, the lady explained that being in her 50’s and not having been to any job interview for over 35 years, that she needed support.

The team gave up their time to support the lady and we explained where she could go for support, but also offered her some of our resources and handouts on preparing for work and job interviews. We supported her with possible answers to interview questions that may arise in the interview linked to the vacancy she was applying for. We spent about half an hour with this lady who explained that she was very nervous thinking about attending the interview. We gave her some encouragement and motivation and she left thanking us for all our support.

This week, the lady popped back into our centre with a "Thank You" card and some chocolates to thank us all for helping ‘a member of the public’. She said how lovely and kind we all were. The lady also gave us the very good news that she got the job and starts next week!

We were so thrilled for her and wished her the best of the luck for the future . . . . one very happy member for the public!
