PeoplePlus helps employers check eligibility, apply, and keep the placement on track. There is no charge for our support.
Introduction
The Youth Jobs Grant pays employers up to £3,000 for each eligible young person recruited into a genuine paid role. PeoplePlus is helping employers access this funding, drawing on more than 30 years of employability, training and education support delivery.
Every approved vacancy means a young person who has been looking for work for six months or more can move into work, and every application that runs smoothly makes that happen faster. With PeoplePlus you are not working it out alone. We understand where applications like these can stall, and how to keep yours moving.
Check your eligibility in 30 seconds
- Your business operates in Great Britain, is registered with HMRC, and has been trading for six months or more. All sizes qualify, including sole traders.
- The role is at least 25 hours a week, lasts at least four months, is paid at National Minimum or Living Wage or above, and is a genuine vacancy rather than a replacement for existing staff.
- The young person is aged 18 to 24, claiming Universal Credit, and has been looking for work for six months or more. Candidates are matched to your vacancy by Jobcentre Plus. You meet them, and the hiring decision stays with you.
- The money is £3,000, paid in two instalments: £1,800 after six weeks and £1,200 after 18 weeks. Payments are verified by DWP through HMRC and made where grant conditions are met. The funding can go towards wages, National Insurance, pension, recruitment and training.
- The order of events matters. DWP approves your business first, then each vacancy, before recruitment starts. You cannot claim for someone you have already hired.
- The timing: employer checks take around 10 working days, and each vacancy around five more.
Where PeoplePlus comes in
The application takes around 20 minutes, and knowing whether your role qualifies before you apply saves the most time. Through the Social Recruitment Framework, our free national service already used by more than 200 employers, and our employer relationship managers, we will:
- sense-check your business and your current or planned vacancy against the published scheme criteria before you apply
- guide you through the DWP application and vacancy submission, step by step
- help the young people applying to arrive prepared and ready to work
- support you and your new starter through onboarding and the early weeks, so the job lasts and both grant payments are reached
Why act now
To hire with grant support in September, start now. Approval is a one-off. Once you are in, adding your next vacancy is a five-working-day check, not a new application.
No charge, no obligation
There is no charge for our support, and no obligation. If your role does not look like a fit against the published criteria, we will tell you before you spend time applying. The decision itself always rests with DWP.
