Clip from BBc Crimewatch

Our training restaurant Bertie's at HMP Lincoln was featured on BBC Crimewatch this morning (6th March) as an example of best practise to reduce re-offending and prepare prisoners for employment. The restaurant is run in partnership with The Right Course, its founder and Chariman of the Trustees, Fred Sirieix and CEO Simon Sheehan, who are both interviewed for the programme.

PeoplePlus' catering tutor Nick features in the clip talking about the exemplary training methods he uses at Bertie's, along with one of our learners Ryan, who talks about how the training is bettering his time in prison and his hopes for the future.

60-70% of learners who do this training go on to achieve employment on release, which is an impressive statistic. Talking to the presenters towards the end of the clip, Fred Sirieix himself reminds us of the difference this makes lives - one individual at a time and his ambition for a facility like Bertie's in every prison in the UK.

The full episode can be seen below, and Bertie's features from 31 minutes 25 seconds in (11.16am)
