Learner Malcolm gets a taster of what it's like to be a tutor

Malcolm joined PeoplePlus after being referred by his local job centre in Middlesbrough. He enrolled on the customer service and personal development course and on completion we funded a brand new laptop for him. Whilst on the course he decided he wanted to become a tutor. He spoke with Julie McGregor (tutor) and Alan Green (centre manager) who thought this was an excellent idea, and offered him the opportunity to present in a tutor led session to give him a taste of what tutoring is like.
Malcolm is now undertaking his level 2 maths and English with PeoplePlus and will then enroll onto the warehousing course with plans to progress towards a level 3 tutoring qualification in order to become a Health & Safety tutor.
Malcolm said:
"PeoplePlus have supported me to gain qualifications and have helped me by offering me a volunteer placement to work towards my tutoring qualification. It's worth attending a course with PeoplePlus to gain qualifications to add to your CV"
Alan Green (centre manager) said:
"I have promised Malcolm I will explore opportunities for him to shadow tutors in the centre so that he can continue to gain valuable skills. To start with we have encouraged Malcolm to give a group presentation in one of his tutor sessions to get an idea of what tutoring is like"
We wish Malcolm all the best on his journey, and hope he fulfills his dream role of becoming a Health & Safety tutor soon!
